Paignton Zoo is excited to be working with Torbay-based Bays Brewery once again in 2022 with a limited edition ale. ‘Savanna’ is a well-balanced, light golden ale with a fresh, citrusy hop character.
To celebrate the collaboration, team members from Bays Brewery in Paignton came into the zoo on Monday 28th February to get up close and personal with some of the giraffes. They participated in a giraffe feeding – a wonderful opportunity to meet the very animals that they’re supporting by producing this beer. Bays Brewery will donate 10p per bottle to Paignton Zoo, which will help towards the creation of a new giraffe house for Paignton Zoo’s all-female herd of Rothschild’s giraffe.
Peter Salmon, Sales and Marketing Director of Bays Brewery, said: “We’re so glad to be working with Paignton Zoo on another guest ale. We have raised over £20,000 for Paignton Zoo over the years thanks to successful beers themed around different animals and we’re hoping that this ale will follow suit in raising lots of money for the well-deserving charity!”
All money raised will support the vital conservation work of Paignton Zoo, part of Wild Planet Trust, a scientific and education charity that aims to help halt species decline. One of the numerous rare species that call their zoos home, Rothschild’s giraffe are Endangered due to poaching and habitat loss. The Rothschild’s giraffe at Paignton Zoo are part of a European breeding programme for the species.
Savanna Golden Ale will be available on draught in select South Devon pubs as well as in bottles in Bays’ online shop. For an exclusive discount and free delivery, zoo supporters can receive 15% off their online order of Savanna Ale by using the code PAIGNTONZOO.
